Charity Print - Now AVAILABLE!

Postby lsrdatabase » Wed Aug 26, 2009 8:01 pm

Well, here it is.
At long last our ‘Charity Print’, ‘THREE CHEERS’ is now ready, and available.
Last night, I met up with Andy Green, the last person to sign them, and I shall be posting off the first batch tomorrow.
This really is your opportunity to purchase a unique ‘Work of Art’.
In this beautiful offering, the printers have captured all the drama and atmosphere of Terry’s and my creation.

The signatory’s on the ‘SIGNED’ prints now include:
Richard Noble, Andy Green, Ron Ayres, Ian Glover, & Ben Evans
All from the ThrustSSC and or the BloodhoundSSC Project.
Both artist, and Paul (CORP) Evans of the 1966/67 Bluebird K7 team.

Attached here are the scanned signatory’s

Full details can be viewed at http://www.rainbowcoloured.co.uk

Regards to all, Fred

Fred

I have just received my signed "Three Cheers" print and am absolutely delighted to be the very proud owner of signed print number 1 of 25.

The painting is just amazing, possessing a near 3-D quality and the composition, detail and colour are just fantastic. I spent a long time gazing at it, discovering more and more detail as I looked. It's a wonderful observation of both K7 and the Lake District, full of atmosphere and lots of charm.

You and your colleague Terry Pegram are to be congratulated for producing a wonderful work of art.

Bearing in mind the limited run of 25 signed prints, I urge every serious Campbell/Bluebird K7 fan to place their order without delay - this really is a one-off and will become a classic in it's own right. And you will be helping to support Papworth Hospital, where Paul Evans (The "Corp") is being treated.

Thanks Fred!

Well, I'm a serious Bluebird K7 'fan' and I find the representation of the boat to be very poor. Plus, who nicked the boatshed? It's just not there! But taste in art is a very personal thing, of course.

Mike,
I'm a bit concerned about your eyesite mate, are you looking at the same picture as Rob commented on?
Can I assume you won't be buying one then? But it's the Corp's charity that will suffer, not me.

Fred, just quoting someone's positive opinion does not make my own automatically wrong- as I said, taste in art is a very personal thing, and this image is not to mine.

Mike

I agree that, in common with many paintings, artistic licence has been used in this picture. Total accuracy need not be the primary aim when composing a painting and in my view leaving out the boatshed probably improves the image. As a life-long visitor to the area, I could also point out many other local landmarks not present in the picture. The depiction of K7 whilst not perfect certainly conveys the correct impression in my view and is better than many others I have seen.

I am assuming you have seen an actual print of the painting? I based my initial impression of the painting on the pictures on Fred's site but the actual print has qualities that just don't come across in any electronic image (in my view)

However, you are correct in saying that taste in art is a very personal thing. I just happen to like the overall impression conveyed by the painting :D

No, I've not seen a print 'in the flesh' as it were- I can see all I need to see of the composition in the online pictures. It's funny how we all have differing views on art...you don't mind the absence of the boatshed, whereas my brain screams out at the pointlessness of it not being there. 'Where's that big blue thing launched from? Where's it going back to? Why is that skinny figure in the blue stood up in it with no one there to tow him? Why are Donald, Leo and Dot Cotton looking down from the sky? Why is Donald 'cheering' himself?!'

But, I do like the colouring in the distant mountains, just to be fair.

I don't need uber-realism in my art. While I have a couple of Arthur Benjamin's prints up in my home, ('Full Power' and 'Across The Lake') BIll has a piece of Bluebird art which is by no means technically perfect, but, it's an absolutely incredible image.

Again, taste!

Let's broaden this out a bit- what Bluebird art do other members like/dislike?

I do like Salvador Dali's work and I wonder what surrealist delight's he could have come up with using K7 and no sleep for 5 days.......

I can't find his website for the moment but from memory, Arthur Benjamins has done some Dali-esque work as well as his Bluebird/motor sport work etc. So he could be the perfect guy to commission if you fancy answering your own question there Boyband!

Arthur has done some amazing Dali-esque work. Arthur, where are you? Can we show everyone the keys in the sky and clocks in the sea?

The painting Mike mentioned earlier is by Peter Miller, he has a beautiful style. Stand back and the image has very intricate detail but get close and it dissolves into broad swatches of colour with no detail at all - very cleverly executed. I've also commissioned several Arthur originals, not that they've ever seen the light of day and Arthur and I worked together on his Ken Marschall-type rendering of K7 on the bottom of the lake. That one is called 'Patience' and it is stunningly correct.
