Bluebird Art Discussion

A couple of people, our Novie included, have been in touch to ask about my current forum avatar. Well, I nicked it- it's from a painting by artist Alistair Little, and he's done a whole series of Campbell-themed works-

Some of the details can wander, and one of the paintings is more of Anthony Hopkins than Donald Campbell, but many of the compositions are fantastic. :D

Are you referring to "The Fighting Pilot" by any chance? At a stretch of the imagination that could be Sir Tony but having looked again at some photos of DMC at that time, I think the artist has got it bang on. The other paintings are superb, too.

Going from the sublime to the ridiculous, how's this for the worst depiction of K7 ever?

Ah, I know what it is! It's the Eddie Whitham photo of Donald sat in the cockpit, but he's reversed the image to a 'shot' that's more familiar as being from 'Across The Lake'.

They are very nice works aren't they, with really striking vibrant colours. Obviously quite a lot of artistic license has been applied, and rightly so, but you can pretty much identify the scenes they depict from all the iconic images that exist of DMC and the two Bluebirds.
I hope Alistair is very succesful with his exhibition. It's just round the corner from my office, so I will find some time to drop by. I see Mike's favorite - 'Immortalized' has already sold. Maybe Bill bought Mike it for a Christams present... 'In the zone' is still available as is 'fighting pilot'...

Art's very subjective but errors always jump out at me and ruin things... "In the Zone" looks great - but - wrong helmet! All in all I think "A Moment Alone" is the best of the bunch.

Doubt I will be parting with any cash anytime soon. Have to agree with Jordan on this one and full of errors wrong helmets etc.

Oh dear, Oh dear. That would be hilarious if the subject matter were less tragic.
