It was great having someone else there to take the brunt of the relentless urine extraction..... without which the Workshop would not be the same. I only got half as much as usual...

Seriously, it was great to meet Jon - hope to see you in the Workshop again :D

You're very welcome Jon- it was nice to meet you and to show you our crazy environment, and great that you got your hands dirty too. 8-)

If you got your hands dirty with choccie sauce they'll still be dirty now or red raw
If it can't be fixed with duck tape it can't be fixed

A little off subject, but as most you guys are diver's, and in Bill's case a highly qualified one, here is a question.....

How quickly can you get through your open water's qualification ? days, weeks, months ? was thinking about doing it before Cyprus this year as i have always fancied going diving the past 15 years i have been (and yet still have not done it) my problem is as usual last minute thoughts, i fly out first week in June

the only diving time i have had was a "Try dive" in a pool in Byker back in 1999.... so clearly I am a season'd pro

That's becoming a common misunderstanding these days...of the Bluebird Project team as it stands, only Bill and John are divers. Members of the original recovery dive team remain on the team page, but that's a bit out of date and as you know, doesn't fully reflect those who are actually rebuilding the boat. I'm sure Carl would have still been involved though had he not had his tragic accident. :(

Rob, already got that qualification....a dive master in that class....so I am advised

Mike I knew you were not a dive diver hahahaha but thought some of the original recovery crew plus Bill and John were occasionally on the forums

Richie, the tile counter certificate is only a few days, the problem being when the dive centre you attend has pool time etc.
Your best bet is to go and talk to the guys at the shops, see how it will fit round your work, it's probably only about 3 pool sessions and a couple of dips in the sea, but if they only have one session in a pool a week it make take 5 weeks, ( they used to do 1 week courses though ) you could easily have your cert by your holidays, getting the plastic card is easy, it's the experience that makes you. Ask Alain next time you see him, he's been diving in the marina.

You could always take the course whilst out in Cyprus, that would give you three days of peace and quiet :P but I bet it wouldn't go down well with the other half.
