What did you do at the weekend?

Hi All,

Last weekend we took a trip up to Bristol, for a Bloodhound meeting, and then it was straight up the M5, M42, M6, M69, and M1 to Darlington to see the Corp.

At Bristol, both Richard (Noble), and Ron (Ayers) were kind enough to autograph the 'THREE CHEERS' prints, for us as well as Ben Evans (Aerodynamics) and Ian Glover (1K Club President), two other BloodhoundSSC Team Members.

Unfortunately, Andy (Green), wasn't there as he was in the USA, so Richard is going to arrange for me to meet up with him later.

Now for the northern trip. The 'Corp' I'm glad to say was in top form, when we arrived on Tuesday, and two RAF friends also turned up making it a very pleasant visit. We didn't bother with signing the 'prints' that day, as we were due to spend two nights in Darlington.

Unfortunately as Paul ('Corp') doesn't get many visitors, he gets rather excited when he does, which is not good for his chest. Over-night he had a bad turn and was rushed into hospital, cutting our visit a bit short. When we left, the 'Prints' stayed we Paul's wife 'Dot', who will get him to sign them as, and when he is strong enough.

When we left Darlington he had improved somewhat, although we didn't get to see him. We will be returning to Darlington just as soon as he has recovered enough.

Kind regards to all, Fred

The old bugger had better get himself sorted...

One of the things we did back in 2002 was submit a list of those original 67 team members who could be a part of the present chapter if the Lottery Flops got their bureaucratic finger out of their expansive arse and fast-tracked our application before everyone died. The list included both Norris brothers responsible for K7's design and the corp to name but three. We were strung along interminably then turned down while those terminal idiots bleated about the necessity of conserving the history of Bluebird, blah-de-blah.

Every time we lose someone who had a right to be there when us young whipersnappers bring it all back to life and would have been there but for the blinding stupidity of the museologists and HL-effers my blood boils. How I'd love to have stood alongside Ken Norris as K7 gathered up her skirts and raced down the lake one last time. And there's no earthly reason why it shouldn't have been. We had plenty of time if they'd not p1ssed it all away and I'll never forgive them for that.
I'm only a plumber from Cannock...

This is not put on as a public entertainment... it's put on to reach a certain goal.

Hear, hear guv; unfortunately, the loss of the likes of Ken Norris is one of those 'large gaps' that you can't 'fill with Loy filler'. We'll all just have to do our best with his 'machine' and hope he's watching us from somewhere. :(
