Want to own a part of history ?

Most links in this thread are quickly defunct, but the latest special items for sale from the Bluebird Project can always be found here-

Well, fortunately , now you can 8-)

- during the rebuild project, although every effort is made to ensure everything that can be re-used is re-used, there are certain items that are not able to be incorporated into the rebuild project and so, to aid the rebuild fund, because it doesn't pay for itself, these LOOF ( Loss of Original Fabric ) bits will be sold to enthusiasts - this ensures that the odd fragments go to good homes where they will be treasured rather than in the skip - and they are directly helping support the project.

These bits have been in the form of flakes of Bluebird Paint - and odd pieces of metal removed during reconstruction. They are very limited in supply and only parts that can't be reused for anything else.

Keep an eye on Ebay - seller " thebluebirdproject " for special pieces available - just so happens there's an extra special on currently sitting on there ...

Once in a lifetime opportunity to own a special piece of history, and help the rebuild directly.

And please, if you do bid and win one of these superb collectors pieces, we prefer the money to come to the project rather than Ebay, so although we have to offer Pay Pal as an option ( even though we'd rather not ) - we prefer payment by cheque so we don't have them taking a bigger cut than they already are ;)

Cheers

Gary,

Thanks for your support. That frame fragment is a particularly poignant one because the reason it was removed was not because of corrosion. It's where the fixing bolts for the front spar tore through the metal and the force of the crash can be realised when you look at it. There's a comprehensive set of photographs that come with it to add to its provenance.

As the auction in the link above is now finished I thought I would post a link to all James Von Jetpumps' auctions http://shop.ebay.co.uk/merchant/thebluebirdproject

And thanks to Herr Von Jetpump who takes filthy, dirty paint flakes and lovingly crafts them into these amazing collector's pieces. There's no telling how many will eventually come up for sale because there aren't that many big flakes that can be dispalyed in this way and a number are already set aside for sponsors and the like. Buy one while you have the chance.

Having rummaged in the paint flakes box- imagine a box of cornflakes, which are all shades of blue- I can attest to the fact that decent sized chunks are running out now, so indeed, get 'em while you can! ;)

Hello Mike,

Just wondered whether you could send me a piece, please? Don't know what the cost is but given that I've just recently donated £50 to the fund, could this serve in lieu of payment?

Incidentally, I haven't yet received an acknowledgment for this donation from the organisation (apart from confirmation of my Paypal transfer). Can you - or someone - confirm it's been received?

Cheers,
Keith

Not my department I'm afraid Keith- I'm forum mod but am not currently local to the actual team- though that's about to change! I'm sure that Bill will be along in due course to answer your queries for you.
