It took me a couple of passes at it, but I'm fairly sure our Roberto is just having some April Fools with us there, albeit a couple of days late. But, we are indeed a public domain and we have just recently suffered at the hands of a couple of professionally disgusted types, so steady on everyone lest we get accused of being 'nasty' again etc.

Of course Rob is just carrying on - and very cleverly done it is too.

Can you immagine how hurtful it is to go to a shop for mushrooms only to be asked if i intended to eat or sit on them.

Phew, thought as much- eventually!

Anyway, the Mighty Mackem is doing himself a grave disservice, as we all know that he's actually 6'5". Okay, so he had a bad landing once while doing para training, but still...

We'd have to try harder than that to upset a mackem. Being insulted is a way of life so far as they're concerned.

Im still off line with p.c problems. Back soon when my p.c comes back. Just found out my p.c is 2 days away still so will have a go with this laptop thingy.

When i concocted that post i never thought any of the team would have been took in.Was a windup for my sparing banter partner at the time. I loved Johns post that i may have been fishing for rosie comments, I would have more chance catching trout in the stripping bath with our lot. I did try to nip it in the bud lads but when i tried to log on i have half the trojan army on my p.c. .Bill spotted the mushroom thing . If i had left the more obvios line in. "The kids would follow me round shouting hoy shortie get back to the garden pond with that fishing rod,it was worse when i left the house" Im sure my cover would have been blown. so i took that one out. So all in all turned out better than i could have immagined. I also know that i will need to be on my toes for the one the lads will be cooking up as we speak to get me back.
Gan easy lads im awnly little yer knaw

Being a Scouser and not being fully clued-up in relation to the north east of England, I looked for a definition of "Mackem" and subsequently found two in the Urban Dictionary which Rob might like:

Mackem "A born and bred resident of the largest city in the north east of England (unlike the common misconseption that Newcastle is) and largest ship building town in the world. Rider of the bittersweet emotional rollercoaster that is the life of a die hard supporter of Sunderland Asociation Football Club as all true Mackems really are and don't just decide to switch teams because ones doing better than the other. NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH A GEORDIE!"

or.........

Mackem: " A demi-god worshipped by ancient civilisations as the epitome of wit and sexual prowess. Romans and Vikings colonised the area in the hope of developing a race of supermen to help them in their ambitions. The word is based on a blend of Roman and Norse, and means "astonishingly well-endowed, funny and attractive angel on a temporary visit from Valhalla."

;)

Very interesting post Rob. Mind you i think we should leave the demi sex god thing for the time being. I mentioned it before and it caused a bit of a stir.
I had heard Sunderland was bigger than Newcastle but cant remebe if it was area or population. Sadly the shipbuilding that made us the biggest in the world has all gone now. Maggie shut our yards in the 80's. As for the Norse and Roman stuff that is all news to me. Once i get my pc back i will look into that further as i am a bit short of ammo at the mo.

Just like to thankyou for the gift on my dashboard. Have to admit the gearbox thing was good, took me almost 2 hours to get home. However i would appreciate it if you can tell me how to put it right as i need to get to work in the morning.
Yours beggingly.
Rob.
