What kind of a 1 litre engine does it have then? That's intriguing.

Engine is Kawasaki Ninja with turbo and running on Methanol. Record to beat was 313 mph. Had a chain problem earlier in the week. No news on the final days speeds.

A chain! can't it have a carbon propshaft with titanium ends? Still, an impressive speed for a one-litre lump.

They're Scottish from Lesmahagow-carbon props cost Bawbees!-chains are cheap!-from what I hear chain jumped off engine sprockets and totalled the chaincase-managed to get new chaincase made in 24 hrs and sent to Bonneville-dunno what speed they got to but will try and find out. 8-)-last speed I seen was 196.811mph-which is probably when the chain snapped-still another 100 mph+ to make next attempt. :o

If they're sweaties they'll have to balance their budget between machine and pub. Tell 'em we'll do their welding for them - might keep a few bottles of Glenfiddich the right side of the balance sheet; us Geordies are sympathetic to that sort of accounting.

Not sure that the Flower of Scotland car has ever been in this country at anytime since being sold.

Do you have a travelling welding kit that works on the USA voltages?

Absolutely! And if we couldn't buy one we'd make one.

This weekend the Don Wales lawn mower record (Countax Running Blade) will be chellenged by the former record holder Bob Cleveland. Not making it easy for themselves the 104+ Team will run at altitude at Bonneville where there is little grass to be cut at this time of year.

Some photos I shot of the Craig Arfons boat. This was the first jet hydroplane to use an afterburner during the record attempt. The J-85 turbojet weighed about 500 lbs and generated in burner about 5,000 lbs of thrust. The complete boat weighed about 2,500 lbs.
