Bluebird Models

That's very nicely put together, if I may say so as someone who is in the process of doing the same.

I hope you have more luck than I did with the ducted fan set-up; I have long since had to revert to a prop, following initial experiments when the healthy excess of thrust from my fan turned into the faintest puff of air, once the fan had been strangled by the scale intakes and jetpipe.
It is not the critic who counts.....

Hi
I wish to build a large scale model of CN7 and im struggling to find accurate drawings of her,i have the wheelbase and track dimensions but are there any other facts available or will i have to scale everything from photographs.
Im also looking for more detailed pictures than seem to be available on the net has anyone visited CN7 and photographed her in close up and would like to share there pictures
I have ordered the new CN7 book and eagerly await its arrival.
It seems a shame that such a historically important vehicle doesnt have all that much information readily available
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks Mark

There's a few nice photos of the car as she is now in our thread on the CN7 book here-

Ordered one of the resin 1/72 K7 kits (1967 config) from A2Zee the other day and it arrived today.

First impressions - captures the beast well I think, the shape looks good and it's nicely mastered with nice subtle panel line detail. There's no cockpit, just a blank surface and a solid clear resin canopy to stick on top. Given the small size of the kit it's not a major issue - I think I'll probably paint a representation of the cockpit interior and seat on the kit before gluing the canopy on. Clear plastic card spray deflectors are provided along with a bit of brass rod to cut up for the deflector struts (and also to provide the little intakes on top of the hull, once bent to shape, and the pitot probe on the fin). The planing shoe blades are provided as etched brass. There's also a little stand to sit the completed model on. Decals are provided for the Bluebird logos on the rear hull and nose, BSEL logos, gauges on the starboard side, union flags on the nose and DO NOT STAND markings on the sponsons (along with some unused items for older K7 configurations).

Instructions are all you need, though the colour notes bear some criticism - I've passed on some corrections to A2Zee and hopefully they'll update the instructions.

Edit, some pics...

Here's a direct link to the model Damien has purchased-

I might be tempted by one of those myself when funds allow. Let us know how your build goes Damien!

Hi Damian I for one would be interested in knowing how the model goes together? Looks a solid model and it looks like the main hull is already built is is not? Which makes life easier for Joe public to build I would say from looking at the kit? Keep us informed as I for one am most interested in how it goes together. Are paint and glue included in the box for that price? Other dearer kits don't even have that included. I did mean to check that before posting but I will ask the question anyway.

Hi Damian that model looks grand, I see they do a 64 version too. Looks to be good value for money much better than that speedline muck, which I note has gone up in price too!!!

In 1/72 scale as well, there's scope to do some nice little dioramas- tied up to a jetty, out on the water, or even in the whole boat shed if you were feeling particularly resourceful! Or, just lifting off the water, even. Hmmm...

No paint or glue I'm afraid. As it's resin you'll need to invest in some super glue, sanding sticks or some fine grade wet and dry, dust mask and so on. Paint - black, mid grey, gunmetal for the jetpipe and, I suppose, some blue might be necessary. I'm not sure what shade. Perhaps somebody here could suggest a colour match, I don't believe the subject has been raised recently...
